We're going Loco for Life! We've been there for NCAA upsets, last-minute buzzer beaters, and driven countless miles following our teams. Now we're putting some of our time and energy to an equally good cause.
If you're not in the know, Relay for Life is a fundraiser put on by the American Cancer Society to raise money for treatment as well as research for a cure.
The event occurs from 12pm to 12pm on Friday-Saturday May 14-15 on the UCSB track. At least one person per team will be walking on that track for the duration of the event, with team members swapping off as the day goes on.
If you would like to find out more, we are holding an informational meeting at 6867 Trigo this Thursday (1/14) evening at 6:30pm. We hope to see you there!
A little bit of background information:
This team is being put together and captained by current students and Locos. However, I've been reading this board for a while and I know that there's a lot of sentiment from alumni and current students alike that the two could accomplish some great things if we all worked together. That in mind, we would like to invite you to join our team if you're still in the Santa Barbara area. It's a great opportunity to help mesh multiple generations of Locos while at the same time raising money for a great cause.
I understand if you are interested but unable to make it out to IV for all the meetings. If you'd like some more information on Relay or on ways that you can help out, you can feel free to respond to this thread or email me at [email protected]
